EcolightingUK offers a versatile product range using the latest LED technology, creating bespoke solutions for many applications. Products are manufactured here in the UK, from design, to installation and service support.
The company provides full turn-key solutions for energy efficient lighting, as well as mechanical and electrical contracting services into the industrial and commercial sectors.
Tracy Mosey, EcolightingUK Compliance Manager, chose to implement ISO 14001 as they already had ISO 9001 certification for several years and saw it as a way to, “show our customers that the company were committed to Environmental Management as well as quality”. Operations Director, Stuart Cain, added, “environmental issues are becoming more and more important to consumer’s when choosing products, and companies in our B2B partnerships are wanting to work in more sustainable ways by implementing practices that help reduce their impact on the environment”.
How long did the implementation take?
The standard took six months from the first consultation through to the GAP Analysis and ultimately certification. Tracy notes that, “initially it seemed overwhelming, with numerous procedures to implement, but once it was broken down by Ian, our IRCA Lead Auditor, it seemed far more manageable. Implementing ISO can seem like a daunting task – IMSM make this process as smooth as possible”.
Our Area Manager, David Coulter, was,” as always, very helpful and approachable, he was in constant contact while we arranged the initial GAP Analysis and still in contact now to check we are getting on ok.” Our dedicated IRQA qualified Lead Auditor takes the heavy lifting out of the document creation, guiding us through implementation and ensuring internal confidence with the standard.
Tracy noted that Steve Gardner, EcolightingUK’s MD, found that working with IMSM’s Lead Auditor, Ian Farquharson, was “excellent, he was a massive help with the advice and support he offered our company”. Tracy added, “on a personal note, he helped guide and point me in the right direction when certain processes seemed unclear, without Ian’s help, I would have been left floundering.”
Benefits of working with ISO certification
ISO has supported EcolightingUK to enhance their brand image both commercially and in the B2B sector as working with an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified company builds confidence in the products, “customers recognise the standards, so it has not only helped gain new customers and win projects, but has also refined our processes and identified areas for improvement.”
EcolightingUK envisage gaining other ISO standards in the future, (Health & Safety, maybe Energy?) due to having the PAS 99 framework in place, built specifically to support implementing multiple standards. PAS 99 also offers businesses time (and ultimately cost) savings in their management review and internal auditing functions.
Culina Group
“As part of some general improvements to the warehouse we decided to switch to LED lighting to reduce our running costs. We chose to work with Ecolighting as we have worked with them for years and have always been impressed with their work and the savings we make. We are very pleased with the results.”
Robert White, Group Facilities Manager at Culina Group
If you think you may want to have multiple standards now or in the future you should discuss this prior to implementation with an IMSM ISO Specialist, either your Area Manager or Lead Auditor.
