The leading distributor of catering disposables, food packaging and hygiene products in the UK, has upgraded the lighting at its regional distribution centers in South London, Basingstoke and Mansfield, with energy efficient LED luminaires supplied and installed by Leicestershire-based energy-saving lighting specialist, EcolightingUK Ltd.

At the South London site, the switch to Ecolighting technology will result in an 87 per cent annual energy saving. This is based on the site’s current two-shift work pattern, but with the company planning to introduce an extra shift at the facility, the savings could be even more significant.

The upgrade to the South London store will also reduce the company’s ongoing maintenance costs, as EcolightingUK’s sales director, Steve Gardner, explains: “The site’s original lighting not only gave poor light levels but also required frequent repair that was proving expensive, so this made the case for switching to modern LED luminaires even more compelling.”

At the Mansfield and Basingstoke centres, the new lighting’s return-on-investment figures are equally impressive. At Basingstoke for instance, the company’s energy bill is forecast to drop by over £22,500 per year.

Previously, Ecolighting has undertaken similar projects at other parts of the catering group of businesses.

Steve Gardner adds: “Lighting costs represent one of the biggest overheads at any industrial or storage facility which is why savvy companies like these are introducing energy efficient LED luminaires and enjoying an almost instant return on their investment.”

Testimonials

Cadburys

“It was the energy saving that was the key driver, we only committed to a 50% reduction in energy use, in practice it was nearer 70% resulting in annual savings of circa £70,000, If we had of stayed with the old system, this annual saving opportunity would have been lost forever”
