The LED lighting installation

We can undertake any size of LED lighting installation by our teams of installers. All our technicians are 18th Edition trained engineers with knowledge and experience working in the lighting industry. We are also a Part P and Part L registered company which means we are licensed and accredited to install and certificate lighting solutions that comply with Part L building regulations. We also hold ISO9001 and ISO14001 and are members of the electrical contractors association (ECA).

As a privately owned Accredited Supplier, at Ecolighting we offer a complete in-house turnkey solution, from manufacture of the fittings, installation, certification, maintenance & warranty. We believe we are the only UK manufacturer that offers this service as we employ all our own installation engineers through our Installation division – Ecolectrical.

We have all the right equipment for access from small step-up podiums right the way up to heights of 20 metres where we use mobile elevate platforms and here our staff are all IPAF trained in their use.

The operational benefits

Up to 40% of a site’s energy is consumed by out of date lighting equipment. So by converting to LED lighting you know that you are making large operational savings through their very low energy consumption with no energy wasted.

You can dramatically reduce the disruption and cost of an existing lighting system’s maintenance, as replacing lamps at height involves the hire of expensive lifting equipment and maybe contractors. New LED luminaires often provide 5 to 10 years of operation between lamp or luminaire changes.

A more comfortable working environment and improved staff productivity results from areas being lit at the right brightness and with the appropriate quality of light for the work being performed, for example daylight quality white light for inspection areas. Also LED lighting gets to full light brightness instantly with no restrike or warm-up time.

Existing health & safety issues can be addressed with new lighting including making sure that CIBSE lighting levels guidelines are achieved, lowering existing glare, cutting out dimness in hazardous working areas, and avoiding the risks of old and unsafe electrical equipment. All of this protects a business from liability and brings your site up to best practice levels.

The environmental benefits

A major advantage is that businesses can demonstrate a carbon reduction strategy and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to customers and supply chains. It is also the case that a new LED lighting installation is a very clear and visual example of energy reduction on site.

Much less frequent replacements and significantly less waste results from the use of new energy-efficient, long life LED lamps and luminaires. Thus the ever tighter environmental regulations such as the WEEE initiative, which requires specialist disposal, are easier for a business to achieve and ensure compliance.

As part of a wider sustainability initiative and a business’ environmental strategy, new LED lighting is very convincing whilst at the same time showing a quick return on investment.

Cadburys

“It was the energy saving that was the key driver, we only committed to a 50% reduction in energy use, in practice it was nearer 70% resulting in annual savings of circa £70,000, If we had of stayed with the old system, this annual saving opportunity would have been lost forever”

Kevin McGlynn – Head of facilities Cadburys
