Following the successfully completed replacement lighting project at Cadbury’s 340,000sq ft Minworth DC, Kevin McGlynn,  a logistics project manager at Cadbury commented “Although the lighting system was in need of replacement, energy saving was the key driver, we only committed to a 60% reduction in energy use, in practice we achieved over this.”

“Using Ecolighting’s experience and expertise in this field, Cadbury’s were able to achieve improved lighting levels of 145 lux in the aisles where old lighting was failing to meet recommended guidelines. 170 – 250 lux was achieved in some key locations with no blind spots throughout the warehouse”

“In pure money terms the old system costs in excess of £100,000 a year to light the Minworth site, the new system costs under £40,000, if Cadbury had chosen to stay with the existing system, that saving opportunity would have been lost ,” concluded Mr McGlynn.

Following the completed installation, monitoring the site has shown clear measurable benefits in 5 key areas:

Health & Safety – Improvement in working environment.
Cost Saving – Forecasted savings exceeded.
Lighting levels – Cadbury’s requirements exceeded.
Maintenance – Reduced service risk to the operation
Carbon footprint – Corporate objective achieved
